Criteria for Students
BACKGROUND
In 2002 Cabinet approved the HRD Strategy for the Public Service, which included an Internship Framework and a Scarce Skills Strategy. The framework seeks to establish an effective and efficient internship programme aimed at bridging the gap between academic study and competent performance in the workplace by offering structured internship opportunities to students and unemployed youths that will enable them to gain practical work experience.
TIME FOR APPLICATIONS
The department has developed a database for all applicants (degrees and national Diplomas) and the applications are received all the year round to update the database. The programme starts at the beginning of each financial year and ends at the end of the financial year. The department issue an advert through CDW`s for the fields of internship towards the end of financial year-October. .
Bursaries will also be grated to non-employees (students) who wish to further their studies. This financial assistance will be granted in terms of the departmental requirements for scarce and critical skills. These are
